I'm wondering when you did this trip and what next week holds. Did you come up as far as Hampstead or go down south of the river at all? I would say that All Bar One is a boring chain and not really worthy of your time -
Hi! We were there from the 15th through the 19th, so kinda like a very extended weekend (when you count a full day of travel there and back). We stayed in a hotel very near the Tower, and didn't stray all that far from that general area. We did go to the British Museum and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (and the Tower, and Leadenhall Market and Oxford Street shopping), but we didn't venture as far as, like, the Palace. I'm still awestruck by London's sheer size, not to say complexity, so I don't know if that makes any sense.
Basically, we Popinated into two or three pubs after whatever cool historical thingy we'd started the day with, that happened to be nearby the day's event.

Yes, London is huge - as has been said many times, a series of villages. Sounds like you had a good time though...looking forward to next week.
We had a lovely time! Ad I know I've only scratched the surface. We were very tempted to not come back...
