Okay! So a few things: First of all,
My personal life has been …well let’s just say it’s a lot. (I wrote a bit about same in a recent post called Eulogy, but that wasn’t all.) Also! I am going out of town all of next week to make a visit to a relative-in-law who’s feeling poorly (and also ostensibly will be on vacation), so my diligent work ethic is about to be directed elsewhere than here (hopefully I can add my day-job work to the load at the very least but here won’t be maintained nearly as well as is my norm). (Was that too many parentheses? Too bad.)(Welcome to the inside of my head.)
Therefore!
Today’s vocab word is not an actual word but another opportunity for you to choose one for me! Also: next week all my posts will be REBOOTS all around, unless I get to Popinating tomorrow. So. All of that means that today’s word choice will be executed by the week after next, when I’ve returned.
The way I gather interesting words is multifold—sometimes I’m just inspired, sometimes I find a word that has something to do with what’s going on in my life, or I find something cool in someone else’s work. I also have a little Apple Note on my phone where I paste images of cool words that I want to keep in the word bank. This 4-part suggestion came from Threads a while back. Caveat: I don’t know who Cian McCarthy is and I yoinked this from my Threads a few months ago and I forgot to save the link along with the screenshot so no credit can be given. Sorry. It does smack of other sources I’ve used, though, like the qi folks—which I love, as I’ve long loved silly British brainy shows. Here’s a list: Brainiac, 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown, Top Gear (the old one, with The Triumverate hosting—you know the ones I mean), and Fry & Laurie (well,
in general).Okay, now it’s time for YOU to choose! Your mission (should you choose to accept it), is to vote on which word you’d like me to tackle in essay form next, or add your own idea in the comments. This message will self-destruct.*
