Whoooo are you? Who-who, who-who

I really wanna know… (are you singing with me? Good).

I’m an overworked, underpaid humanities professor and a performing artist, specializing in such things as Shakespeare, fight choreography, complex comedy, old world stories and mythology, pop culture tropes, linguistics, accents, and the art of the tease (burlesque).

Here at Zuko’s Musings, I write about all these things all wrapped up in personal essay and memoir. I’ve written a memoir paralleling my experience in theatre, my marriage to a gaslighting narcissist, and long term employment as an exploited adjunct faculty. It’s called Next Time, and has been released bit by bit into the world as Saturday Morning Serial. A subscription to Zuko’s Musings gives you full access to read the whole archive of Saturday Morning Serial.

If you subscribe, you’ll get my thrice-weekly Musings plus Saturday Morning Serial right to your inbox, which is nice if you’re worried about my stuff falling through the Notes cracks. Most of my work is here for free, except Wednesdays when I post analyses of fight scenes, which I call Fight Clip Club. If you’d like to join Fight Clip Club but can’t manage the fee, drop me a line. I know how that goes.

Join the conversations I’ve started by adding commentary to my commentary. C’mon, you know you want to.

Stuff and nonsense about the nerdings-out I do on a thrice-weekly basis. Memoir, cultural commentary, literary analysis, theatrical and academic rantings. Unhinged personal essays. Pub reviews. Cool? Cool.
