As I am on vacation through the whole first week of July, and as it’s summer and I keep seeing friends post things about their trips up to Larkspur to the Colorado Renaissance Festival, I thought I’d not-so-randomly share a movement pic from my days working there as an on-site swordfighter. I did this with a group called On Edge Productions, for two years in total. It was overall a great experience, however you may be otherwise impressed if you’ve read Chapter 5 of my memoir. Here ya go! (More fight scene analyses when I get back.)
As is usual with the RMPs, this post is free to enjoy.

This was Renfaire in 1998, which was the second year I worked as a fighter with The Lads. The first year, I wore men’s clothes and that was the running joke—that I was one of the guys. This year, I had the full corset, bloomers, and layered skirts which had to be tucked in to my sword belt whenever I was fighting (see the pic above). One time, I’d forgotten to tuck up the skirts when the fight began, and I regretted it as the outer skirt managed to pull itself all the way off, and the underskirt went askew. But my character was all about being slutty, so it sort of worked.

The guy on the right is dead, but doesn’t know it yet.
