Here I am, analyzing another fight that features CGI enhancements, and even whole characters created with the technology. But I’ve been doing so much writing and guest posting and joining rereads about Lord of the Rings, I’ve got hobbits on the brain. And I haven’t watched any of the Peter Jackson film adaptations since right around the time when they first came out, so I thought why not pick a fight to look at more closely?

I’ve long been a lover of Tolkien’s original literary works, and so I was pretty wary when going in to see these (admittedly epic) cinematic adaptations. I do remember liking them well enough: I feel like Jackson and the screenwriters did an admirable job converting the sprawling saga-style novels into movie form. I also remember finding some of the CGI nonsense to be just that, especially un-physical-looking stuff like Legolas dangling from an Oliphaunt, or snowboarding over orc-heads on a shield. But for the most part, I did and do find them to be a pretty gosh darn good adaptation. The Hobbit movies? Yeeahhh not so much. No really, don’t get me started, and I won’t be analysing anything from those, tyvm.

So let’s look at another badass female warrior, shall we? Take up your swords and shields, and forth Eorlingas!
