We’re going in a very different direction today at Fight Clip Club. This one isn’t a fight from a movie, nor is it a short of which its fight story stands alone. Nope, this is a live performance by a pop star who set her song as an epic medieval battle. Sort of a live music video, if you will.
Now this sort of thing is not our uzh, though it is a gig that fight choreographers will get more often than you might think. But everyone was talking about Chappell Roan’s performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards and so I had to go in and give my two cents’ worth. Plus, it’s not every day you get a good abstract/dance style fight that’s got enough going for it that it’s worthy of discussion, especially one that’s not really centered on narrative.
Is it possible you haven’t seen this epic performance yet? Well it’s right there below the paywall—go check it out and let’s talk about it.
